India had a bad day on Tuesday. They lost to England by 125 runs in the T20I match at Trent Bridge in Nottingham. This is the defeat India has ever had in a T20 International match. England is now leading the series 2-0 with two matches left to play. Indias young team, led by Shreyas Iyer has a lot to think about after this loss.
England Post a Big Total
India won the toss. Chose to field first.. This did not work out well for them. England scored 201 runs for 7 wickets in their 20 overs. Phil Salt from England played a game. He scored 70 runs in 44 balls. He hit 7 boundaries and 3 sixes. The ball was bouncing well on the pitch at Nottingham and Salt took advantage of this.
Captain Jos Buttler also played well. He scored 36 runs in 21 balls. Sam Curran did a job at the end of the game. He scored 41 runs in 24 balls. Helped England score more than 200 runs. For India Prince Yadav was the bowler. He took 2 wickets for 30 runs. He got Harry Brook and Phil Salt out which was a deal.
Indias Batting Falls Apart
India needed to score 202 runs to win.. They failed badly. They were all out for 76 runs in 11.4 overs. This is the defeat India has ever had in a T20I match. India lost 5 wickets in the few overs. The top players could not score runs against Englands bowlers. Jofra Archer was the bowler for England. He took 3 wickets for 29 runs. Josh Tongue also did a job. He took 4 wickets for 28 runs. He got the ball to bounce and move which made it hard for Indias players to score. Adil Rashid took 2 wickets for 14 runs. Only Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Ishan Kishan scored than 10 runs for India. They both scored 13 runs.
Iyers Tough Start as Captain
This loss makes things harder for Shreyas Iyer, who’s the new captain of Indias T20I team. He has not won a match yet. India lost the match and the first match was cancelled. Now they have lost the match too. India needs to win the two matches to tie the series.
What’s Next for the Series
The next match is in Bristol. India needs to win this match to stay in the series. England is playing well and they want to win all the matches. Indias team management needs to think about what they can do to improve their game.
The Bigger Picture
This big loss will make people think about Indias T20I team. They need to think about the players they have and how they can do better. Some older players are not. Some new players are getting a chance. Indias team management needs to decide what to do. They do not want to lose all the matches, in the series.
