A policeman was killed in a terror attack in Anantnag which’s a town in Jammu and Kashmir. This attack happened on Wednesday afternoon. Some people who are suspected to be terrorists opened fire on a group of police officers. This incident occurred at Lal Chowk in Anantnag town.
The police officers were stationed at Lal Chowk as part of the security plan for the Amarnath Yatra. The Amarnath Yatra is an event and the police were there to keep everyone safe. The attack happened at, around 12:30 PM.
The policeman who was killed has been identified as Head Constable Ashiq Hussain Qureshi. He was. Badly hurt. The police took him to the hospital away.. Sadly he died from his injuries.
A group that calls itself The Resistance Front says they did this attack. The police are checking to see if this is true. This group is thought to be connected to another group called Lashkar-e-Taiba, which is based in Pakistan.
The police and other security people are now searching for the ones who did this attack. They have closed off the area. Are looking everywhere. They are also checking videos from security cameras to see if they can find any clues.
