The traffic situation in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand has changed a lot because of the Kanwar Yatra. This is news for people travelling to Delhi. However there will be traffic rules from August 5. Now state-run buses are using the Delhi–Dehradun Expressway. This means fares and shorter travel times for people going from Dehradun to Delhi.
How Passengers Are Benefiting
The State Transport Corporation has changed the routes of bus services. Buses that used to go from Dehradun to Delhi via the Roorkee–Muzaffarnagar route are now using the Delhi–Dehradun Expressway. This makes the journey faster and smoother. It also means fares. If you are planning to travel you should check the fares and timings with the State Transport Corporation. They may change depending on the movement of pilgrims.
Delhi–Meerut Expressway Restrictions from August 5
From August 5 one lane of the Delhi–Meerut Expressway will be for Kanwar pilgrims. This will be until August 12. Only small vehicles will be allowed on the lane. Some vehicles going between Delhi, Meerut and Haridwar will have to use routes like the Eastern Peripheral Expressway, NH-9 and the Delhi–Dehradun Expressway. There are rules for big vehicles.
Traffic Plan on the Delhi–Dehradun Highway
There are restrictions on the Delhi–Dehradun Highway too. One lane is for Kanwar pilgrims. The other lane will have controlled traffic. If more pilgrims come they may reserve lanes.
Diversions Across Multiple Districts
There is a traffic advisory for Meerut, Baghpat, Ghaziabad and Muzaffarnagar. From August 5 some buses will not be allowed to enter Ghaziabad. Buses from Bulandshahr will stop at Lal Kuan. Some services will use routes. Vehicles going to Baghpat, Ghaziabad and Noida may also be diverted.
