Heavy rain in Uttarakhand has again stopped the Char Dham Yatra routes with debris blocking both the Kedarnath and Badrinath national highways at different places.
Kedarnath Highway Blocked Near Tilwara
On Wednesday night the Geed Gadhera stream near Tilwara in Rudraprayag district got very big because of heavy rain close to a public toilet sending a lot of debris and big rocks onto the Kedarnath National Highway and stopping the road. The flood made it hard to move traffic on one of the roads used by Char Dham pilgrims going to Kedarnath.
Badrinath Highway Blocked Near Helang
On Thursday morning debris blocked the Badrinath National Highway near Helang in Chamoli district making it hard to move along the route and causing problems for the wider Char Dham Yatra.
Waterlogging at Sonprayag
Also the parking area at Sonprayag. A place where pilgrims stop on the Kedarnath trip. Has a lot of water making it hard for pilgrims and drivers who are there.
Restoration Efforts Underway
Teams that deal with disasters and workers who fix roads are working to clear the debris and get traffic back, on the highways. Officials have asked pilgrims to check the road and weather before they start their journey and to follow the rules given because the monsoon is causing problems.
