Cybercrime police in Hyderabad have registered two FIRs against Meta India head Arun Srinivas and the operators of several Facebook and Instagram accounts over the alleged circulation of morphed and objectionable content targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi during protests led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) over the student paper leak issue.

What the FIRs Allege
The police say that these complaints are about the things that were posted on Metas platforms during the protests at Jantar Mantar. The Cockroach Janta Party led these protests over the country. They were asking for someone to be held responsible for the paper leak. The police claim that fake pictures and mean posts about Prime Minister Narendra Modi were shared on social media accounts.
Details of the Complaints
One complaint was filed by a man named T. Saikiran Goud on July 29. He is a member of the BJP Telangana social media committee. He said that when he was looking at media on July 29 he saw some videos and posts that were mean to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He did not like what he saw. He thought these posts were against the country. He gave the police a list of 20 posts on Instagram and Facebook. He wants the police to look into this.
Another complaint was filed by a man named S. Arvind Reddy. He is a 29-year- businessman. He said that when he was looking at Instagram he saw some mean videos and pictures of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He did not like these all.
What Meta Says
Meta told the Uttarakhand High Court that they have changed their rules for dealing with complaints. Now they will act fast when someone complains. This was said during a court hearing about social media accounts bad videos and people trying to extort money online. The lawyer for Meta said that the company has changed its rules.
