A 54-year-old Manipuri musician, C Vikram Singh, died early Monday after being allegedly assaulted by a group of delivery workers and dhaba staff outside his residence in Delhi’s Kilokari village, after he objected to them drinking alcohol and creating a disturbance.
What Happened
According to police, Singh — a native of Manipur belonging to the Meitei community, who had been residing in Kilokari for several years — went downstairs from his residence after a group of men were allegedly drinking and creating a noise disturbance outside his apartment. When he asked them to lower the noise, the group reportedly attacked him, raining blows and punches. Singh sustained severe injuries in the assault. His son, Yaiphaba, rushed him to Holy Family Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Arrests Made
The Sunlight Colony Police Station received a PCR call regarding the assault and launched an investigation. Police detained eight persons, including a minor, in connection with the incident — identified as Bharat Kumar (19), Pramod (26), Ramzan Khan (22), Deepanshu (21), Mohan Vishwakarma (32), Vijay (36), Mannu (26), and a 15-year-old. According to police, those detained worked as delivery agents and staff at nearby eateries, including Saini Dhaba, New Choudhary Dhaba, Annapurna Dhaba, and a pizza kiosk. Investigations into the exact circumstances leading to the assault and Singh’s death are ongoing.

The North East Students’ Society, Delhi University (NESSDU) condoled Singh’s death, describing him as a “respected Manipuri musician” and calling the incident a “senseless act of violence.” The organisation urged authorities to ensure a “swift, fair, and thorough investigation” and hold those responsible accountable.
