Awarapan 2s Strong Theatrical Run
Emraan Hashmis Awarapan 2 directed by Nitin Kakkar and also starring Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi has become one of the biggest box office hits in Bollywood in 2026. The romantic action drama was released on August 14. Has kept a strong presence in theatres through its second week.

On Day 3 Awarapan 2 added another Rs 26 crore bringing the opening weekend total to Rs 81.75 crore. Awarapan 2 crossed the Rs 100 crore mark within its week and finished Week 1 with Rs 113.50 crore nett in India.
The film has held strong into its week and it is now nearing the Rs 150 crore domestic milestone. Growth has slowed after the opening week. Reports say collections dropped almost 70% from peak levels by Day 11 which is normal for films in their second week.
A Standout Commercial Comeback
Awarapan 2s money story is very notable when compared to its budget. In 10 days Awarapan 2 is estimated to have made roughly 215% profit, which is higher than the about 200% profit margin from Hashmis 2004 hit Murder according to trade reports. Awarapan 2 is seen as a commercial comeback for the actor and it has climbed into the top tier of this year’s box office charts.
Batwara 1947 Crosses a Milestone
Awarapan 2 was released on the same day as Sunny Deols Batwara 1947 directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and also starring Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, Karan Deol, Ali Fazal and Abhimanyu Singh. Awarapan 2 has clearly become the performer at the box office but Batwara 1947 has also crossed its own milestone.
By Day 8 Batwara 1947 had earned Rs 33 crore nett at the Indian box office (Rs 38.96 crore gross). An Rs 8.25 crore from overseas markets brings Batwara 1947’s worldwide gross to Rs 47.21 crore. With collections in its second week Batwara 1947 has continued to cross the Rs 50 crore mark worldwide.
What This Means for Bollywood in 2026
The parallel success of both films even though Awarapan 2 is comfortably ahead of its clash‑day rival shows a trend for Hindi cinema at the box office in 2026. Awarapan 2 is close to joining the Rs 200 crore club and Batwara 1947 has a run of its own. The August box office has turned out to be one of the periods for Bollywood this year.
