Akshay Kumar’s much-anticipated comedy entertainer, Welcome to the Jungle (also known as Welcome 3), has wrapped up its first week at the box office on a strong note, crossing the ₹130 crore mark worldwide. The film, directed by Ahmed Khan and led by an enormous ensemble cast, has emerged as one of the more consistent performers of the year despite facing the natural weekday slowdown that most Bollywood releases experience after a big opening weekend.
A Week of Ups and Downs
Welcome to the Jungle started with shows on Thursday, June 25. It made 3.75 crore. Then it did well on Friday. The film made 15.25 crore, which’s a big jump from Thursday.
On Monday the film did not do well. It made 8.50 crore, which’s 65 percent less than Sunday. On Tuesday it made 9.25 crore. This was because ticket prices were lower on weekdays. On Wednesday it made 6.15 crore. By Thursday it made another 5.25 crore. So in total it made around 92.90 crore in its week in India.
Crossing 137 Crore Worldwide
The film’s international performance has significantly boosted its overall numbers. With an India gross collection of around ₹110.90 crore and overseas markets contributing an additional ₹26.45 crore in the first week alone, Welcome to the Jungle’s worldwide gross now stands at approximately ₹137.07-137.39 crore — a figure that places it firmly among the year’s stronger Bollywood openers.
By its eighth day in theatres, the film’s domestic net collection had climbed further to around ₹95.21 crore, with trade trackers now projecting it will enter the prestigious 100 crore net club within 9 to 10 days of release — which would make it Akshay Kumar’s 21st film to cross that domestic milestone.
Strength in Tier 2 and Tier 3 Markets
One of the more notable trends behind the film’s box office resilience has been its outsized performance in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, rather than relying purely on metro multiplex audiences. Trade analysts note that this broader geographic pull has given Welcome to the Jungle a more durable box office profile than many pre-release estimates anticipated, and these smaller-market centres are expected to continue driving business into the second week.
The Alpha Test
Welcome to the Jungle now enters its most challenging phase, as YRF’s big-budget action thriller Alpha, starring Alia Bhatt, Bobby Deol, and Sharvari, hit theatres on July 3 — bringing with it a significant reduction in show counts and screen availability for Akshay Kumar’s film.
