Initial reports put the number of dead at eight, before Mukdahan Governor Worrayan Boonnarat’s office confirmed a ninth fatality, and later figures — including from the province’s administration — placed the toll at 10, with five monks killed at the scene and the remainder dying at Mukdahan Hospital in the hours that followed.
Investigation and Legal Proceedings
The 11-year-old driver was taken into custody. He will be questioned when state child protection officers arrive. The police are investigating. They sent the vehicle for examination. The authorities asked the childs parents to come. They might be responsible for the accident. They could face negligence charges.
